Media design university is an award-winning industry that has emerged as an alternative to traditional publishing.
It’s a niche field that relies on software, but also on designers to make its content accessible and fun to use.
It doesn’t come cheap, but it’s worth it.
“It’s one of the nicest fields I’ve been involved in,” said Kate Smith, a media design graduate who is now a full-time freelance designer.
“The only other thing you need to do is spend some money on a professional software, like Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or even Adobe Afterthought.”
Ms Smith is currently a freelance editor for The Australian, working with some of Australia’s best media brands.
She said it was a challenging field, but the skillset was vital to becoming a successful design professional.
“I’ve seen lots of students that have been in this field for three or four years and they’ve come to realise it’s not that hard to get into,” she said.
“They’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, and it’s a really nice field to be in.”
You have a very well rounded set of skills, you’re able to create really compelling content and that’s what you really need to be successful in.
“Designers often get paid less than in traditional publishing industryThe average design student makes $30,000 to $40,000 a year, according to the National Media School.
But the real money comes from clients and employers, who may pay for a designer to design a piece of content.”
We’re seeing the rise of new companies that are designing media in a way that’s more efficient and cost effective,” Ms Smith said.
Ms Smith said she was impressed by the amount of design students were being paid.”
Most designers, if they’re going to be working in this space, they’re probably working in a design studio.
And they’re making less than other designers,” she explained.”
But when you start to see students being paid more than designers, that’s something that really helps you understand the impact that designers can have in a creative environment.
“Ms McLean said the new design industry was not just about being a designer.
Ms McLeod also noted that there was a need for more designers in the field.”
There are a lot of designers that want to make money but don’t have the experience that the designers that are getting paid are making,” she told News24.”
That’s a bit of a huge gap.
“Designers don’t just design content, they also create the experience of the user.”
Ms McMullen said the media industry needed to keep up with the digital revolution.
“When you think about it, the digital world is about the way we interact with the world,” she added.
“People will be making digital products, and when they go to buy that product, they’ll be doing so with their mobile phone.”
So I think that’s going to become more important in the future.
“Ms McKelvey said she found it exciting to be part of the media design industry.”
What’s exciting is that we’re able of creating a digital experience that has the potential to be even more effective,” she suggested.
