When I first started designing books in 2011, I was a complete novice.
My first book was called “The Book of Unfortunate Events,” and I didn’t even have a website.
My work was in the realm of fantasy and horror, and I had a limited knowledge of how books were made.
But as I worked on “The Boy With the Horn,” I was learning, and the more I learned about how books are created, the more my interest in creating covers and book covers grew.
This was when I decided to take a crack at making my own cover design.
I wanted to have a book cover that was as different from what I was used to as possible.
I had read a book called “Book of Unhappy Events” by Margaret Atwood, which explained that books are designed to make you feel like you’re at a book festival.
In “The Girl With the Black Eyed Peas,” author and illustrator Rebecca Kroll says that, “The book covers are the little pictures that tell you, ‘this is where I’m going to go.'”
In my case, the book cover is a very simple illustration of the protagonist and their family, a young boy named Michael and his mom, Emily.
The illustrations are very simple, and it’s easy to draw a simple, generic image of the author, a boy in a dark, snowy forest, in a cold, snow-covered cabin.
But I wanted the cover to be unique.
My goal was to use a palette of colors, a style that I liked, and a bold, simple design.
The result is a cover that’s unique and beautiful, but also stands out in a crowd of similar-looking book covers.
This is why I’m so excited to share the first edition of my book cover design with you.
The cover will be printed on high-quality, matte paper.
The design will be a mix of colors from black and white to gold, red, yellow, and blue, and will be hand-sculpted using the same process as I used to create my book covers, which is called acrylic carving.
I also plan to use my custom-designed watercolor brush, which I have used on many books, and which is available from my Etsy shop.
The watercolor will be applied to a thin layer of white acrylic paint, then dry.
The final step is to apply the watercolor over a glossy black background.
As you can see in the image above, the finished cover will have a bold design that stands out against the dark backdrop.
If you’re interested in seeing the cover in person, you can order your copy of the book here.
The first edition will include the following: A one-year limited edition of 100 copies (plus shipping).
