The number of media and design media companies in India is on the rise, with a market capitalization of about Rs 4,000 crore, according to data compiled by PwC India.
This is not the first time that PwT’s data has found India to be a media capital, which is an area where the country has been making rapid progress in recent years.
The company’s data shows that Pune-based Mondo Media has a market cap of Rs 2,500 crore, followed by Delhi-based Adiabatic Media (Rs 1,600 crore), Mumbai-based Media One (Rs 900 crore) and Kolkata-based Digital Media Pvt Ltd (Rs 535 crore).
India is also on track to become a media powerhouse by 2020, according PwI India, with the country expected to become the fourth largest media market by that time.
In 2016, PwP India said India’s media market size was around $2.6 trillion and that it expected to see a total of $10.2 trillion of new media revenues by 2020.
PwT India said the total number of companies in the media and technology space is expected to hit an all-time high of 5.5 million by 2021.
